Prepare for something new yet familiar

Katie Doke Sawatzky, MC Canada Communications Officer.

“Over the past three months, in my role as communications officer for Mennonite Church Canada, I have been busy preparing for the first nationwide event of the “new” Mennonite Church Canada “Gathering 2019.” This work is challenging because, much like trying to envision summer in the dead of winter (Regina is under an extreme cold warning as I write), this event is different than past assemblies. It will be something new, and yet familiar, like spring after winter’s cold, or summer after spring rain.”

Come let your imagination be ignited

Henry Paetkau, Interim Executive Minister, Mennonite Church Canada

“The movement this outpouring of the Spirit ignited (in Acts 2), and the community formed by its powerful presence, embodied and proclaimed the promised reign of God. As the Book of Acts describes it, and those filled with the Spirit experienced it, this community was international, intercultural, intergenerational, invitational and inclusive. Now there’s a promise and a hope to ignite the imagination of the church!”
